Ben has spent 17 years with Custom Air, taking on a wide range of roles throughout the company. With a lifelong interest in how things work, he found HVAC to be the perfect way to combine his mechanical curiosity with his management experience. Ben’s specialty is bridging the technical and managerial sides of residential HVAC, drawing on his hands-on experience and leadership skills to support both customers and his team. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and making lasting memories. His favorite season in Ohio is summer, when he loves boating and enjoying the warm weather with friends and family. Baron Bugala
Residential Service Manager
Baron has been with Custom Air for over 15 years and brings 30 years of HVAC experience to the team. After leaving the Air Force, he discovered a passion for skilled trades and trained in HVAC at Fairfield Career Center. Baron loves helping customers by providing solutions and options that ensure their comfort, drawing on his extensive experience as a technician to understand both customer and team needs. Michelle Phillips
Operations Manager
Michelle has been with Custom Air for 26 years, growing through several roles including Accounts Receivable, Office Manager, and Payroll before becoming Operations Manager. Her family’s long history in HVAC sparked her interest early on, and over the years she has developed a deep understanding of both the industry and the needs of the team and customers. Michelle’s specialty is creating structure and consistency by streamlining processes, improving communication, and supporting her team so they can deliver exceptional service. She loves knowing that the work she does behind the scenes helps create a smooth and reliable experience for customers. Outside of work, people are often surprised to learn how much she enjoys camping and being outdoors. Scott Gischel
Residential Replacement Specialist
Scott has been with Custom Air for 31 years and is a valued member of the residential replacement team. His HVAC career began unexpectedly when a friend introduced him to a heating and cooling company that offered to sponsor his training. From there, he gained experience as a service technician, retail installer, retail install manager, and eventually transitioned into sales. Scott enjoys hearing from customers after a project is completed, especially when their home feels more comfortable or their energy bills drop. His specialty is solving comfort issues by redesigning ductwork, adding zone systems, and finding creative solutions that others may overlook. Residential Replacement Specialist
Scott has been with Custom Air since 2006 and has been a Residential Replacement Specialist since 2009. His career began in mechanical power transmission, electric motors, and variable speed drives, which led him into the heating and cooling wholesale industry supporting dealers across Central Ohio. Known internally as the “book-smart guy,” Scott brings a strong technical foundation in airflow and heat transfer to every project. He performs detailed load calculations and carefully reviews equipment specifications to ensure each home receives the right system for optimal performance.
